Cancer Support Community Arizona (CSCAZ) is celebrating five years of serving northern Arizona with A Walk to Remember, a free community event honoring those impacted by cancer while raising funds to keep CSCAZ's support programs free.

The public is invited to participate in two community walks: a 1.5-mile walk beginning at 9 a.m. from the CSCAZ Flagstaff office and a second walk beginning at 11 a.m. at NAU's Upper Observatory Field. Individuals and families impacted by cancer can also register for workshops, classes and a complimentary lunch throughout the day, including plant-based nutrition workshops, sound bath healing, a breast cancer education presentation, yoga and expressive arts.

Registration is open for the walks, and individuals and families impacted by cancer can register for classes and workshops. Community members who cannot attend can support the Flagstaff location by donating online. To learn more about CSCAZ, please visit cscaz.org.

Flagstaff Creepy Con is a horror, paranormal, and true crime convention happening Saturday, October 10th, 2026 at Little America Hotel in Flagstaff, AZ. We’re expecting 1,000+ attendees throughout the day, featuring vendors, guest speakers, live podcast recordings, and community engagement.

While we embrace all things creepy, the event is also designed to be a family-friendly and welcoming safe space. We’ll have cosplay throughout the event and special trick-or-treating opportunities with vendors for kids in costume, creating a fun and interactive experience for attendees of all ages.

Spend the weekend surrounded by art, creativity, and the charm of Old Town Cottonwood at the Arizona Wine Country Artists Village, October 9–11 at Old Town Activity Park.

This free, outdoor art and craft fair brings together talented artists and makers from across Arizona and the region, offering a chance to shop original, one-of-a-kind pieces you won’t find in a typical store. Meet the artists behind the work, watch them create, learn about their craft, and find something special to take home.

There’s something for everyone, including a free scavenger hunt and raffle with artist-donated prizes and a $500 cash grand prize, plus a hands-on Children’s Art Activity Tent where kids can get creative and make their own artwork.

And when you’re ready for a break, you’re just steps from everything that makes Old Town Cottonwood a favorite destination. Grab a bite, explore local shops and galleries, or visit one of the area’s nearby wine tasting rooms.

Admission is free, and the event is family and pet-friendly. Come browse. Come discover. Come meet the artists. And maybe find something you’ll love enough to take home.

See curious Museum specimens and discover why we keep them. Explore our haunted laboratory and learn about insects and minerals that glow in the dark, see coprolites (fossilized poo) from ancient creatures that once roamed the Colorado Plateau, and meet bugs, living and dead! We’ll have touch tables with real animal skulls and fossils, a spooky craft and an owl pellet dissection station.

Step back into pioneer life and discover how autumn harvests brought families together to prepare hearty meals from local crops and game.

Learn how pioneers turned their harvest into delicious dishes that sustained them through the colder months. Visitors will explore traditional recipes, watch cooking demonstrations, and have the opportunity to make and take home their own spice mix and recipe card.

Living History Adventure is included with General Admission and Membership.

Every morning, a volunteer naturalist leads a guided nature walk informing visitors about the different life zones of Red Rock State Park. The subjects discussed on this walk may include geology, wildlife, history, archeology, and plant life. The naturalists welcome questions during the walk, enhancing the learning experience. The program is included with park entrance fees.

Blending art with outstanding children's books, this program introduces budding young readers to the wonderful world of story and illustrations. This month, learn about Aggie and the Ghost written and illustrated by Matthew Forsythe. For children, grades K-2. Register online, at the Youth Desk, or call 928.777.1537.

Drop-in to the  weekly Casual Chess program, where adult and teen players of all levels are welcome. Whether you're brand new to the game, a casual player, or an advanced competitor, Casual Chess offers a supportive and engaging environment. Come play, learn, and enjoy chess with others in your community. Boards and clocks will be available.  Chess Meetup is held in partnership with Prescott Chess Club. Club membership is not required.  

Support historic preservation in Prescott and Yavapai County at the twenty-second annual Prescott Antique Show and Vintage Market, happening October 9th and 10th.
Hosted at the historic Prescott Rodeo Grounds, this community event features a wide range of authentic antiques, furniture, period home goods, Native American and other vintage jewelry plus upcycled decor. This year’s event also introduces a dedicated Country Market highlighting local artisan craftsmen. One-hundred percent of proceeds from the event directly fund regional restoration, history, and education initiatives.

Join Willow Bend and forager John Slattery for an information-packed, hands-on workshop that walks you through every step of processing acorns for food and provides recipes for preparing your leached acorn meal. We will process acorns from the locally abundant Gambel’s oak (Quercus gambelii), which can be found throughout Flagstaff's urban environment and the surrounding forests. Late September to early October is prime time for gathering these tasty acorns, so be sure to join us so you can be prepared to handle this prime wild food resource.

We’ll fully process acorns to prepare them for cooking, and weather permitting, we’ll enjoy a solar-baked bread together to wrap up the class. All participants will get hands-on experience with processing acorns, and everyone will leave with the knowledge and experience to properly process all acorns for food.

There is no equipment or prior experience necessary to participate in this class. Just bring an open mind and willingness to learn.
